About Our Region
We live in Southwest Washington in the Lower Columbia River region. We are within a leisurely drive of the alpine regions of the Cascades, the headlands and beaches of the Pacific Coast, and the islands of the Puget Sound. Whether interested in sea life, animal life, plant life, or the rich scenic landscape, this is truely a photographer's wonderland.
About Us
Jan and Linda have enjoyed photography most of their lives. Jan's first SLR was a Petri V-6 purchased at a discount store when he was in college. Linda graduated from an Kodak Instamatic to a Canon AE-1 and used the camera for over fifteen years. They began using digital equipment when Canon introduced its first digital SLR in 2001.
They continue to use Canon cameras and lenses and recently added a pair of Canon 7d bodies with improved servo focusing and a blazing 8 frames per second. The camera's APS-sized sensor enables them to drop the 1.4 extender previously used with their Canon 5d full-sized sensor and zoom lens. The new combo improves speed by an f/stop. This may not seem like much, but it can be the difference between sharp and motion blur when shooting bull riders under the lights.
Their favorite action lens for rodeo photography is the Canon 70-200 mm L f/2.8. It provides sharp photos even when used wide open. It is relatively light weight, an essential for a day of shooting. It also allows faster shutter speeds at a time when the changing light of an evening event limits most other shooters.

If you have an interest in photography, check out a camera club in your area or the photography exhibit at your county fair. Equipment variety and prices can be intimidating, but even inexpensive digital cameras can provide stunning results. Post your photos on free photo-hosting websites and share with family and friends. Photos are a visual diary of our lives.
